Shortage of Marine Surveyors
A recent article in the 'Australian' newspaper discussed the
chronic shortage of Marine Surveyors needed for Australian
ports.
The skill shortage adds to already short supply of Deck Officer
qualifications due mainly to the lack of an industry plan and
support from government and port service providers.
What is needed is urgent action to be coordinated by the Federal
Government to finalise and implement an industry wide plan that
addresses the training and its costs.
This matter can no longer be avoided.
