Dear Members,
We have been recently invited to contribute to the review of the
courses in the Deck Officers program of the Australian Maritime
College's National Centre for Ports and Shipping (NCPS).
The reviews will be conducted in accordance with the AMC's
Cyclical Course Reviews arrangements and will involve a review
panel to assess the following courses:
• Deck Officers Program Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas of
Applied Science (Nautical Science, Chief Mate/Master, Deck
Watchkeeper and Mate/Master<500 GT).
We would like to hear from members who have recently attended
the college. In addition to the terms of reference we would also
like to know what components of the course, that you feel could be
more than adequately completed online, so as to reduce the campus
time [and cost of courses].
We are also concerned that AMC currently enrols all
students with or without a seatime sponsor; we would be interested
to hear your views on this issue and your opinion of the quality of
student services offered by AMC.
