Formal approval was recently granted for the 'Marine Safety
(General) Amendment (Pilotage) Regulation 2011'.
The new regulations:
- replace existing Marine Pilotage and Pilotage Exemptions
provisions
- enables the NSW Pilotage Code to be introduced by
regulation
- defines a 'Marine Pilots Licence'
- sets out qualifications necessary to obtain a Marine Pilots
Licence
- continues the Master Unlimited (Commonwealth) as the base
qualification
- recognises other equivalent acquired levels of competency
- provides for additional requirements for applications for
marine pilotage exemption certificates
- defines qualifications and comptetencies required to apply for
a Certificate of Local Knowledge in NSW Ports
