Fellow Members and Friends of the Port Club
Our President, John Webster, has drawn attention to a Notice in
yesterday's Obituary Notices in the Sydney Morning Herald, which
sets out the details of a Function to 'Celebrate the Life of Dick
Den Brinker, our much loved and respected former Member and
immediate Past President. Dick, as you all now know, lost his
last battle and 'crossed the bar' on Sunday, 14th August
2011, in Holland. His Funeral was held in The Netherlands
last Friday, 19th August 2011.
The 'Celebration of Life' Function is to be held on Friday,
2nd September 2011 at The Beach Club, 1058 Pittwater
Road, Collaroy, from 1.00pm. We hope that most, if not all,
Members and Friends of the Port Club, will be able to attend as a
mark of respect to Dick and to his Australian Family.
For those of you not driving, Collaroy can be reached from the
City by Government Bus (Route No. L88) which departs from
Carrington Street (Wynyard) (Stand C) at 11.55 am, arriving at
Collaroy at 12.38pm, ie, just over one hour. NOTE:
These are pre-paid fare buses only. You must pre-purchase a
ticket. There is a ticket office near Wynyard Station in
Carrington Street.
Of course, there will be no normal Port Club
Lunch/Meeting on the day of the 'Celebration' (Friday,
2nd September). The Club will meet for
its normal Lunches on both Friday, 26th August and on
Friday 9th September 2011.
People who are proposing to attend the Celebratory Function
please advise me either by email at peteby@optushome.com.au
or by phone [ 0409 905 763 ] or 02 9948 5678.
Kindest regards
