The Australian Mariners' Welfare Society is offering members of the AMOU a special price for copies of the book The Sydney Sailors' Home by Jan Bowen.

The Funeral Service to Celebrate the Life of CAPTAIN PETER FREDERICK SHIPP will be conducted at 1.30pm on Thursday 29 July 2010 in the Heysen Chapel, Jubilee Complex, Centennial Park, 760 Goodwood Road, Pasadena, SOUTH AUSTRALIA 5042.

In lieu of flowers a donation made in memory of Peter may be fowarded to Rotarys - Operation Cleft, PO Box 631, Box Hill, VICTORIA 3128

Toll Wins Destroyer Contract

Toll North has been awarded the contract to transport of 66 hull blocks by sea from Williamstown and Newcastle to Adelaide for the three Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyers.

The $25 million contract will see the completed blocks transported on a barge towed by a tug boat to Adelaide.

Each ship is made up of 31 blocks and the blocks will be transported in groups, with 15 trips from BAE Systems Williamstown shipyard and eight from the Forgacs shipyard in Newcastle.

The project is on track to deliver the first AWD, HMAS Hobart, in December, 2014. HMAS Brisbane is scheduled for delivery in March, 2016 and HMAS Sydney in June, 2017.
